Helicopter Spins Uncontrollably into Palm Trees at Well-Known Southern California Shoreline
A chopper hovering near a popular southern California beach unexpectedly started spinning wildly, ultimately dropping height and plunging into a cluster of palm fronds as beachgoers looked on.
Videos uploaded on the internet show the aircraft beginning to twirl over Huntington Beach then falling near the perimeter of the shore, where it gets stuck among palm groves and a staircase near the shoreline route.
Emergency Response Information
Emergency responders reported five persons were transported to a medical facility including two individuals who were in the helicopter and were “rescued from the debris” following the accident on Saturday.
Three people on the road were injured. Details on their condition were still under review.
The reason for the accident was not yet disclosed.
